Often my family head over to the in laws for either a relaxing weekend or a running weekend. It is usually a case of jump in the car, climb on the N2 and get there as fast as we can. Recently, I said to my wife we should take a slow drive and enjoy Clarens Drive.
We could not have picked a better day to pull this off, we drove along the coastal road and a trip that usually takes 1 hour took almost 2 hours. We stopped at every lookout, hunting for dolphins or whales. It was mesmerizing for the lack of a better word.
These photo’s however, where taken in 2018 and since then a massive fire has ripped through this area, destroying the beauty of this magnificent coastline.
Next time you are heading up the N2, do yourself a favour and take the turn at Gordon’s Bay and take Clarens drive past Pringle Bay and Betties bay, you will not be sorry for the extra few km’s on your trip.
